Here in Kent we have a black car seat where the stitching has come undone on the drivers side bolster.

Before

After

Stitching coming undone on your car seat can be caused by a variety of factors:
– Wear and tear from daily use
– Friction from clothing
– Sharp objects
– Sun damage
– Foam inside the bolster collapsing

In order to repair this black leather car seat in Kent the technician will re stitch the damaged area by hand.
We use curved needles in order to get through all the holes at the right angle.
Firstly the technician will enter an existing hole from the underside, beginning approximately 4 holes further than the hole where the stitching is loose. This is to ensure that the stitching that has not yet come undone is strengthened.

Using the curved needle the technician will then enter the hole directly opposite and come back out through the whole next to it.

The pieces of leather on either side will need to be pulled together, and the technician will pull the cotton tight to close it.

Again the technician will then enter the opposite hole and thread the needle through to come out of the hole next to it.

Similarly the technician will pull the leather together and tighten the cotton.
This is repeated until the entire section that had burst is back sewn back together and continued approximately 4 holes past where the stitching had come loose.
Once secure the technician will tie the cotton off with three knots. This is done as inconspicuous as possible so that the knots are not visible and then cut the cotton.
Now the stitching has been re sewn and the kent leather car seat bolster looks as good as new.
A much cheaper way of getting your burst seam repaired without having to buy a new car seat. This also prevents having to have the whole seat stripped and taken away.
